NPO Saturn Lean-Projects Win Awards

The Lean-project contest was organized by the united industrial company OBORONPROM as part of the educational and business program of the forum. NPO Saturn joined in the contest with two projects.
Following the competition results, the award “Best prospective project” went to the chief specialist of the NPO Saturn Lean division – Olga Rudakova for the project focused on increasing the capacity of the compressor blades centralized inspection station. This project calls for improvement in the inspection station management system by standardizing inspection operations, using the “visual management” techniques, the “5S” and other Lean-tools.
The nomination “Prospective change leader” was won by another representative of the NPO Saturn Lean division – Tatyana Roslova with her project dubbed “High-performance equipment area efficiency increase”. The aspects treated by the project – elaboration of performance metrics, process improvement actions and their implementation.
According to Ilya Pautov, NPO Saturn deputy CEO for production system development who was on the forum jury panel, “the objective of participating in the contest is the exchange of experience on the production system reengineering, increasing the status and level of preparation of the participants implementing Lean-transformations at NPO Saturn. The projects presented during the completion were implemented at NPO Saturn in spring of this year in the frame of the currently administered 6th wave of Lean-transformations. This wave seeks to implement six different projects in four industrial units of the company. The main objective of the new wave of projects is ensuring the required production pace for the SaM146 turbojet – 2 engines a week”.
Research and production association Saturn OJSC – an engine-building company specialized in design, manufacture and aftermarket support of gas-turbine engines for military and civil aviation, the Navy boats and power-generation and gas-pumping installations. NPO Saturn OJSC is part of the United engine corporation managing company OJSC.
