OREANDA-NEWS. August 08, 2012. Russian Railways carried 99.8 million passengers on its own infrastructure in July 2012, 4.9% more than in July 2011. Suburban passenger numbers rose 5.5% to 85.9 million, while long-distance passengers went up by 1.3% to reach 13.9 million, reported the press-centre of RZD. 

Passenger turnover in July 2012 amounted to 18.3 billion passenger-kilometres, an increase of 2.4% on July 2011.

During January-July 2012, Russian Railways carried 599.1 million passengers, up 7.2% on the same period in 2011. Long-distance passenger numbers totalled 66.4 million passengers, up 2% o the same period in 2011, while suburban passengers rose 7.9% to 532.8 million.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways’ network since the beginning of 2012 rose by 3.9% compared to last year and amounted to 80.9 billion passenger-kilometres.
