Shenzhen to Invest 8bn for 4 LNG Storage Tanks
OREANDA-NEWS. August 07, 2012. Shenzhen, China- With total investment of 8.076 billion yuan, Shenzhen’s liquefied natural gas project (Diefu Station), which covers four 16-cubic-meter LNG storage tanks and one berth for 80,000-266,000-cubic-meter LNG vessels, has been approved by the state’s Development and Reform Commission.
The project is expected to be started at the end of this year and will be put into product in 2015, with annual supply of natural gas of 5 billion cubic meters.
The project is one of the major strategic cooperation between Shenzhen and China National Offshore Oil Corporation, according to Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission on July 26. The natural gas received will be mainly supplied to Shenzhen and the surplus will radiate the peripheries.
The Commission said, after formally started at the end of this year, the project will drive the investment of fixed assets in Shenzhen. Meanwhile, along with the establishment of Shenzhen’s natural gas high pressure transmission and distribution system and the implementation of major gas source projects in succession, such as Guangdong Dapeng LNG receiving station, West-east natural gas transmission line 2 and Shenzhen Liquefied Natural Gas Project (Diefu Station), Shenzhen’s natural gas supplying pattern of “multiple gas sources, single network, interconnection and supplementary functions” will be formed, becoming one of the largest cities in China with strong ability to safeguard the supplying of the state’s natural gas.
It’s said, by the end of 2015, Shenzhen natural gas consumption will have reached 6.6 billion cubic meters and the proportion of natural gas in primary energy consumption will be increased to 13.97%.
