OREANDA-NEWS. August 6, 2012. Belarus’ foreign trade surplus amounted to USD 3.043 billion in January-May 2012, compared to a USD 1.9791 billion deficit in January-May 2011, according to the website of the National Bank of Belarus.

The overall turnover of commodities and services reached USD 43.712 billion in January-May 2012, up 18.8% on the year.

Exports of commodities and services rose 34.3% to USD 23.378 billion, and imports increased 4.9% to USD 20.335 billion.

Commodity trade surplus reached USD 1.742 billion in January-May 2012 to compare with a USD 2.961 billion deficit in January-May 2011 (USD 20.768 billion of exports, up 37.1% on the year, and USD 19.026 billion of imports, up 5.1%), and service trade surplus amounted to USD 1.302 billion, up 32.5% on year (USD 2.61 billion of exports, up 15.4%, and USD 1.309 billion of imports, up 2.3%).
