OREANDA-NEWS. August 1, 2012. Tata Chemicals (TCL) won the prestigious 2012 Gold Quill Award for excellence in business communication. The awards are presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). TCL was awarded a Gold Quill under the Communications Management division for their project - Building a chemtastic community.
IABC’s annual Gold Quill Award programme honours the best of the best in business communication, offering professional communicators an opportunity to have their work evaluated by expert judges. The winners represent excellence in organisational communication and their work plans serve as best practices for professional communicators across communication disciplines.
This year’s competition was sponsored by Towers Watson and received nearly 700 entries from 23 countries. Of these, 78 were selected to receive awards — 24 awards of excellence, 53 awards of merit and one student award. The winners were honored at the Gold Quill Award gala dinner at the IABC 2012 World Conference in
“The Gold Quill Award is unique. It's the only programme that celebrates excellence in communication on a global scale," said Dave Meyer, chair of the 2012 Gold Quill Award. “The diversity of categories, entries and cultures has become the standard for the best and most effective sharing of thoughts and ideas in the world. It's also about much more than well-written words or beautiful results. Winners of the Gold Quill Award need to demonstrate that they've added value to their organisation by measuring their results and being strategic in the best sense of the word. Winners this year have shown that regardless of the economic issues or cultural challenges they've faced, the gold standard of communication can have a tremendous impact."
Sujit Patil, head of corporate communciation, TCL, said, “The Gold Quill Award programme is one of the few opportunities for corporate communications professionals to have their work evaluated by an international panel of judges and recognised at a global level. The 2012 Gold Quill Award is special and underscores our ability to run effective national level campaigns that add substantially towards the positive image of our organisation and the chemicals industry in general.”
The entries went through two rigorous rounds of judging by top senior communicators from around the world. The final selection was made by the Gold Quill Award Blue Ribbon Panel of judges in March. To win the Gold Quill Award, Tata Chemicals competed with peers from 23 countries such as Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the UK, the US and Venezuela.
