Baosteel to Increase Sales of Steel for LCD TV Module

In the first half of this year, several departments of Baosteel worked together under the situation of the overall shrinking market of steel for LCD TV module, so not only overfulfilled the half-yearly sales target, but also had a growth of 48.6% compared to the same period last year, and became an important support for the profit of Baosteel's steel for home appliance, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.
Steel for LCD TV mainly refers to the steel for FPTV (Flat-Panel TV) and panel PC. In general, a FPTV's support, postnotum and module will all use electro- galvanized products. Module which is key component of the image in LCD TV, and the steel for module supports the module, due to its harsh operating environment, it has a high demand of the surface quality, which means it has the highest production difficulty and the most complicated manufacturing process in steelmaking for LCD TV.
In 2008, with LCD TV industry fully access to localization, steel for LCD TV has become a new growth point in white goods industry. Catching this opportunity, Baosteel started from ordinary electro-galvanized products' supplying like support and postnotum to import production and the steel for module which is most difficult to product, Baosteel now finally became the biggest supplier for domestic LCD TV steel module market. The products produced by the domestic, Japanese and Korean FPTV brands who were supplied by Baosteel, are sold at home and abroad.
This year, influenced by international and domestic market, the order of domestic LCD TV industry reduced and this made the demand of steel used for the LCD TV decrease too. At the same time, several domestic steel plants newly added the electro-galvanized lines, this makes the homogeneous competition worse and becomes a great challenge for Baosteel. electro-galvanized products.
According to this situation, Baosteel took up the challenge of the market with using a combination blow of the marketing strategy. At the end of last year, Baosteel planned and worked out the "three years’ program of action for the electro-galvanized industry", and the program promoted and made the using of steel for the liquid crystal video modules the most important thing of all the electro-galvanized products; according to the quick reaction of the costumers’ demands, mated them with different trade methods of settling accounts and the demands of costumers lied above all else; collaborated closely with Baosteel international local companies, planed the sales targets according to different areas and different customers, explored the potential customers within the areas and tracked the targets and actual results at regular intervals monthly; founding a research and sales team by Baosteel cold rolling mill, manufacturing management department, research institute, product development department, thick plate sales department, concentrating on tackling the key problem of the quality of steel used for the LCD TV modules, convening the promotion conference of electro-galvanized products monthly, and tracking the product’s quality and the delivery date.
