OREANDA-NEWS. July 31, 2012. Borlas Consulting Group is implementing computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE) solutions and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems for the state-owned ANTONOV  Company (Ukraine). These innovations will enhance the quality of design and engineering, and accelerate the layout and preparation of new Antonov aircrafts. This project is being implemented using Siemens PLM Software technology and is expected to be to be one of the most ambitious and in-depth projects of its kind throughout Eastern Europe.

The state-of-the-art CAD solution allows designers and engineers of ANTONOV to improve process of design of fully-digitalized aircraft models, modelling of items and their components, as well as to lighten work with electronic documentation. The centralized PLM solution promotes integration of the entire product data processing, storage and accessibility into one system. The centralized PLM system also aids in communications both inside the company and with its partners.

At present, the project has officially been launched, and project documentation and workgroups are in progress. At the company, 450 working places were created for CAD/CAM/CAE system and more than 650 working places were created to implement and manage its overall PLM solution.  Under the contract with ANTONOV, Borlas supplies software licenses, installs and adjusts both systems and provides consulting support.

After the pilot project of 2011 showed that Siemens PLM Software’s Teamcenter® software, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management system, and NX™ software, its fully integrated CAD/CAM/CAE solution, best satisfied ANTONOV’s needs, the choice of Siemens PLM Software was made. The open architecture, flexibility and compatibility with the existing systems were the key advantages revealed during the pilot programme.
