OREANDA-NEWS. July 31, 2012. Lead chemical engineer of “Poliom” Ltd Konstantin Bash’uk participated in seminar on IK-Fur’e-spectroscopy which was held in training center “Sintez” on the basis of MITHT of M.V. Lomonosov. Program of the extension courses included theoretical sections dedicated to the basics of IK-Fur’e-spectroscopy, principles of reception and processing of specters, rules of interpretation of received results, reported the press-centre of Titan.

- Professional development is a necessary part of our work, because specialists of the laboratory should follow the latest trends, know the novelties of equipment and be able to work with it, - explains Constantin Bash’uk.

The training was held on devices of American company Thermo Scientific. Supply of exactly this spectrometer is expected on Omsk polypropylene plant.

In the laboratory of “Poliom” IK-Fur’e-spectrometer will be used for detection of bonded ethylene and buten-1 in copolymers. It is necessary to control content of these substances in polypropylene, because quality of the end product directly depends on their concentration.

Only highly qualified specialists can work with such sophisticated devices. This is why in the nearest future the lead chemical engineer will introduce the laboratorians to the principles of work of the new equipment and train them in the skills of work on IK-Fur’e-spectrometer.

Fur’e-IK-spectroscopy (Fur’e-IKS) is a sophisticated instrumental method of chemical analysis, which is used for identification of known chemical substances. The method is based on interaction of infrared light with the substance and finally gives a number of ranges which is called the specter. This specter is unique for the chemical substance and serves as “molecular imprint”, as unique as a fingerprint.
