OREANDA-NEWS. July 31, 2012. As it was informed in the press service of the Ministry of Economy, issues of expansion of house and agricultural plots insurance was discussed at special meeting in the office with representatives of state institutions and insurance companies. According to Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, state policy should provide for a system of insurance against natural disasters.

"The fact that the country has not perfected the system of insurance which guarantees for owners of agricultural plot compensation for damages, we remember only when natural disasters occur. We can no longer delay this process, because the last few years show that the situation should not be regarded as a rare case, but, unfortunately, as something natural, "- said Lazar. He stressed that insurance sector in agriculture and real estate develops only in countries where the state is involved in its development.

At the same time, the minister spoke in favour of limited government intervention, which should be carried out in proactive policies to stimulate insurance, but without providing insurance services as such. At the meeting it was decided to develop a calendar by September preparing for introduction of real estate and agricultural plots and insurance.

The document will outline all the necessary changes in laws and regulations, and an action plan to be approved before the end of the year.
