OREANDA-NEWS. July 30, 2012. According to the Ministry of Economy, by the volume of attracted investments this SEZ is in 2nd place among 7-free economic zones in Moldova, behind Chisinau SEZ.

Also Ungheni-Business is 2nd in the number of jobs created - 2081 people working at 37 resident enterprises. The largest investor in FEZ Ungheni-Business is Moldovan-Belgian carpet manufacturer Moldabela, investments totaled USD 10.43 million, in 2011 net sales in the SEZ Ungheni-Business has exceeded 1 billion lei, almost doubling the previous year, and in I quarter 2012 net sales increased in 1.3 times compared to the same period in 2011.

In 2011 FEZ Ungheni-Business provided about 53% and 17.6% of sales taxes collected in Ungheni area. The share of SEZ Ungheni-Business was 67% of the total investment in Ungheni area.

FEZ Ungheni-Business was created on July 25, 2002 It is located on the border with Romania, 17 km from Iasi, 45 km from the customs office Sculeni and 107 km from Chisinau. The total area of the free zone is 42 hectares.

Currently, area residents are engaged in industrial production of goods for export, sorting, packaging, labelling of imported products for sale in third countries with different foreign economic activity.
