OREANDA-NEWS. July 30, 2012. POSCO held the 3rd Idea Marketplace as a venue to attract investment for venture businesses the company has fostered, aimed to vitalize venture businesses at POSCO Center, reported the press-centre of POSCO.

Around 200 people including POSCO CEO Chung, Venture Capitalist, angel investors and ordinary citizens who are interested in start-ups attended the event.

In the welcoming remark, POSCO CEO Chung said, ``POSCO established a start-up support program as a new approach to shared-growth in last October. I ask for your consistent interest and support for the POSCO Start-up Support program which is evolving in various ways including job creation for young people.``

The reason POSCO is actively pursuing vitalization of venture businesses is to promote shared-growth and ecosysmetic development which are social responsibility of a company. The start-up support program is POSCO`s representative social contribution activity, along with the benefit sharing system in which large companies share achievement with small-and medium-sized companies through various shared-growth programs. POSCO intends to promote success stories of young entrepreneurs to create jobs through the support program.

POSCO held a business information session for investors about 8 start-ups which the company has fostered at the venue. These start-ups were included in the final selection at Idea Fostering Camp in last April and have been preparing to start business in manufacture, IT and biology areas after completing a 10-week membership program including mentoring.

Based on the investors` opinions produced from the information session, POSCO will announce its final decision whether to invest in the 8 start-ups or not. Also POSCO will consider joint investment with Venture Capitalist and angel investors who showed their willingness to invest in interested companies.

Meanwhile, next to the venue of the information session, an exhibition was held for 5 venture companies which have succeeded in attracting investors through POSCO`s start-ups support program to display their trial products for general investors.
