OREANDA-NEWS. July 26, 2012. Now grain and leguminous crops threshed on the area of 7.9 million hectares, it is 80% of the forecast. Six regions have collected more than a million tons of grain. This was started by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk during a briefing at the Cabinet Building.

"As for today, the harvest reached the final stage. at expected forecast of 9.9 million hectares early grain and leguminous crops threshed on the area 7.9 million hectares. Farmers have already collected 18.3 million tons of grain. A number of regions threshed one million tons of grain. Thus, the Odessa region threshed 1.5 million tons, Kharkiv and Vinnytsia regions - about 1.4 million tons each, Cherkassy, Kyiv and Donetsk region – also more than 1 million tons" - Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.

The Minister said that farmers will collect the harvest that is not lower than the average over past 5 years.

"In total, 12.1 million tons of wheat, 5.5 million tons of barley, 336.000 tons of rye was harvested in Ukraine. Farmers will be able to get a decent fee for the grain, as demand on the world market has remained stable and even increases for some items due to lower projections of grain production in the world" - the Minister said.
