OREANDA-NEWS.  July 26, 2012. FSUE “Rosmorport” is taking part in the VI International Maritime Festival, which is held every 4 years in Brest (France). The North-West Basin Branch icebreaker the Saint-Petersburg takes part in the festive events on invitation of the Mayor of the town, reported the press-centre of Rosmorport. 

The official delegation representing FSUE “Rosmorport” is headed by the North-West Basin Branch Director Sergey Pylin.

Russian ships, including the Sedov and the Kruzenshtern sailing-ships, the Kaliningrad warship, the Saint-Petersburg icebreaker and 6 replicas of historic ships, are moored along the quayside of Brest, which is the place, where showcases of countries-participants are located and entertainment events are held.

Not far from the berth, where the Russian ships are moored, the “Russian village” is set, occupying area of 3000 square kilometers, and housing exhibitions representing the Russian sea industry. Among them are the exhibitions “Russian shipping and sailing”, “Expedition of Peter the Great yacht”, “Saint Petersburg – the sea capital of Russia”.

On July, 15 the Russia Day was held on the festival. At the official opening ceremony the guests of the festival were greeted by the Russian Ambassador in France Aleksander Orlov, the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-West Basin Branch Director Sergey Pylin, the Mayor of Brest Francois Cuillandre and other officials. A navy orchestra performed at the end of the ceremony, and then the Russia Day continued with excursions to Russian vessels, a theatre performance about relations of France and Kievan Russia, a gala show, and a ball.
