OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2012. The Improvement Division of PDVSA Petropiar joint venture, which is attached to the Executive Management of the Orinoco Oil Belt (FPO), has focused the efforts of its workers for a successful completion  of the Restoration Plan for Critical Assets (PRAC 2012), which aims to reach optimal levels of upgraded crude oil production and ensure a higher operational reliability.

This new challenge represents the fulfillment of the project’s goals, which means the restoration of more than 900 assets throughout a 46-day period, from July 8 to August 23, 2012. These activities will be carried out under the most stringent safety standards and following strict procedures which will ensure, in the first place, the integrity of human resources working in the joint venture.

In order to comply with principles such as: zero accidents on the job, zero environmental deviations, the allocation of budget and estimated timeframe a series of scheduled tasks such as replacement, inspection and repair of  equipment will be carried out in the crude oil, coke, sulfur, hydro processing, hydrogen, and industrial services plants. These works will not affect Petropiar’s production. The company operates in the FPO’s Ayacucho block, south of the eastern state of Anzoategui.

When maintenance activities are performed, the plant’s units and the equipment will be transferred to the Operations Department for the start-up of the plant, which will have a processing capacity of 210,000 barrels per day (tbpd), to upgrade the extra-heavy crude oil of the Orinoco Oil Belt from 8? API to 23? API.
