OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2012. The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni met in Karachi to discuss the development of Eni's activities and projects in the country.
During the meeting the potential further developments of the strategic partnership between Eni and the Government of Pakistan with regards to the oil and gas sector have been discussed, for which Eni is offering its expertise and innovative technology.
Before the meeting, Eni's CEO met Asim Hussain, the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources, in Islamabad.
Eni has been present in upstream Pakistan since 2000 and is currently the most important international oil company operating in the country. Eni's current equity production in the country is equal to approximately 58,000 barrels per day, mainly gas, and represents about 10% of Pakistan's total production. Within the strategic partnership Eni is pursuing a programme of social work in local communities in which it operates: the work includes educational, social and health projects, the development of water networks, the promotion of food security and provision of computer courses.
