Experts, Judges Discussed Issues of Antimonopoly Regulation
OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2012. The Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Igor Artemyev opened the workshop “Legal Views of the Constitution Court of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation on the Cases Related to Antimonopoly Enforcement”, organized by FAS jointly with the International Lawyers Union with participation of judicial community, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
Acting Head of the Government of the Altai Republic, Yury Antaradonov, welcomed the workshop participants to Altai and wished success to the attendees of the two-day seminar, which took place in the building of the Arbitration Court of the Republic of Altai. Yury Antaradonov informed judges, members of the International Lawyers Union and officers of the Federal Antimonopoly Service about the main investment processes in the Republic, the efforts of the Government the Federal Antimonopoly Service towards developing tourism in the region, and economic changes that had taken place in the Republic of Altai over recent years.
In his introductory speech, the Chairman of judges of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Ykhnei, emphasized importance of the workshop subject and wished productive work to the participants.
Deputy Chair of the International Lawyers Union, Lyudmila Nosova, pointed out that it was not the first occasion when antimonopoly regulation was discussed with judges and lawyers – earlier the problems of competition law and judicial practice were discussed at workshops in Armenia, Moldova, Moscow, St. Petersburg. However, the role of antimonopoly regulation in market economy is increasing. So this subject does not lose its significance. According to Ms. Nosova, it was essential that the workshop was attended by representatives of legal entities putting the antimonopoly law into practice, in particular, fuel-and-energy complex, senior management of legal firms, and lawyers.
