OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2012. Between January and June 2012, Russian Railways carried out work in the amount of 6.5 billion roubles as part of its investment project "Construction and Reconstruction of Permanent Structures", reported the press-centre of RZD.  

The Company completed work at 28 sites which are now functional: 14 small and medium-sized permanent structures, two pedestrian bridges and 12 embankments.

As part of an investment project in 2012, Russian Railways plans to ensure the commissioning of a bridge in the down direction over the river Vetluga at the 570th kilometre on the stretch between Gorky - Shakhunya (in which 169.6 m roubles were invested in the first half of 2012), a viaduct at the 1,418th kilometre of the first track and Tunnel No. 4 at the 1,436th kilometre on the down direction on the stretch between Agryz – Druzhinino on Gorky Railways (in which 181.2 m roubles and 70.3 m roubles respectively were invested in 1H 2012), and Korshunovsky tunnel at the 549th kilometre on the up direction on the stretch between Taishet - Lena on East-Siberian Railways (458.7 m roubles invested in 1H 2012).

In 2012, work continued on major projects to modernise permanent structures. Thus, in the first six months of the year, Russian Railways invested almost 800 m roubles in reconstructing the Obluchensky tunnel at the 8,193rd kilometre on the stretch between Obluchye – Izvestkovaya on Far Eastern Railways, 243.1 m roubles on reconstructing the bridge over the river Bureya at the 8,035th kilometre on the dwon direction on the stretch between Bureya - Arkhara on Trans-Baikal Railways and 128.3 m roubles on reconstructing the crossing over the River Don by constructing a new bridge on the stretch between Morozovskaya - Volgograd on Volga Railways.

In addition, the Company plans to complete work at 50 places where the roadbed and embankments are defective and 40 small and medium-sized permanent structures, as well as nine pedestrian bridges.

In 2012, Russian Railways will invest 21.1 billion roubles in the construction and reconstruction of permanent structures.
