OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2012.  Concrete casting of the containment third level has been completed   at Unit 2 of Novovoronezh NPP-2 construction site (General Designer and General Contractor is OJSC “Atomenergoproekt”, Moscow).  

Concrete casting operations at the third level (from elevation+20.42  to elevation +34.42) have been finished  within a shorter time period due to the pilot project  “Production and erection of  reinforced blocks and casting  concrete  in  the containment  of Unit 2” which is implemented within the “Rosatom” Production system. The works have been optimized by better practices and elimination of losses. 

In 2011 the casting time per one division (1.4 meter section height) was reduced from 12 to 9 days.  Today this period has been cut down to 7 days. The project target is 6 days and it is to be hit by the end of this year. 

Quite soon the builders are planning to begin the construction of the consolidated fourth and fifth levels of Unit 2 containment (from elevation +34.42 to elevation +44.10). 

Today containment dome metal structure enlargement operations are in progress at Unit 2.
