OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2012. CMC, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services, announced that the company’s board of directors has appointed Ashok Sinha as independent director with effect from July 11, 2012.

Mr Sinha has a wealth of experience, competencies and expertise, from his leadership journey as the chairman and managing director of Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), an organisation that is listed as a Fortune 500 company. He spent 33 years in BPCL, where he served on the board of BPCL for 15 years – first as director (finance) for 10 years from 1995 and then as its chairman and managing director for five years from August 2005.

Mr Sinha has received many awards and honours, including CIO-100 Award (USA) 1999, awarded to one among 100 firms worldwide that are most likely to excel in the 21stt century and India CFO Award 2001 by the Economic Intelligence Unit India. Mr Sinha has a degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and masters in business administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, with specialisation in finance. He has received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Kanpur as well as from IIM, Bangalore.

Surendra Singh, an independent director, resigned from the board of the company today on completion of 75 years of age in line with Tata group guidelines on retirement age of directors. The board of directors of CMC recorded its appreciation of the contributions made by Mr Singh as independent director for last over 10 years.
