QP HSE Appoints Sustainability Consultant
OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2012. The HSE Regulations and Enforcement Directorate of Qatar Petroleum recently announced the appointment of Sustainability Excellence, a renowned consultancy firm consisting of experienced international and GCC-based consultants, reported the press-centre of Qatar Petroleum.
The team from Sustainability Excellence will advise and provide technical support to the directorate’s Sustainable Development Team as they prepare the upcoming Sustainable Development Report 2011.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Kuwari, Manager for HSE Technical & Supervision and Special Advisor on Sustainable Development at QP’s HSE Regulations and Enforcement Directorate, welcomed the consultancy’s appointment as a positive step forward.
“We are delighted to have the team from Sustainability Excellence on board for this project as they have excellent credentials and we look forward to working closely with them. The upcoming Sustainable Development Report 2011 remains one of our many functional responsibilities and we aim to achieve real and tangible linkages between the three important corporate responsibilities of economic prosperity, social well-being of society and the protection and preservation of Qatar’s environment,” said Mr. Al-Kuwari.
Referring to the appointment as a strategic partnership and a unique opportunity to promote sustainable development in Qatar, Darin Rovere, President of Sustainability Excellence, said: “We are pleased with the appointment and look forward to working closely with the directorate’s Sustainable Development Team in raising the bar on sustainability reporting excellence. There is a lot we can learn from each other and we will certainly apply our knowledge and best practice towards the upcoming Sustainable Development Report.”
Stressing on the importance of this year’s report, Mahesh Patel, Sustainable Development Team Leader and Business Strategies Assistant Manager at QP’s HSE Regulations and Enforcement Directorate, said: “The upcoming Sustainable Development Report 2011 for the energy and industry sector is scheduled to be launched in November 2012 and will positively represent the energy industry at the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP18), which will be held here in Doha.”
The Sustainable Development Report 2011 is an ongoing initiative of the HSE Regulations and Enforcement Directorate, which aims to foster clear and consistent reporting to ultimately help companies in creating a solid platform for productive engagement and performance improvement.
