Ukraine to Ensure Problem Areas with Qualitative Water
OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2012. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov charged the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal services and a number of other departments within a week to develop a realistic plan that will quickly resolve the issue of providing with quality water to regions where there are problems with its delivery. The Head of Government stated this at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to him, the situation with the provision of quality potable water to residents of the capital in general is acceptable, but there are areas where the situation with the water quality is absolutely unsatisfactory.
"I set the task to the Ministry of Ecology, Ministry of regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services, other agencies: within one week to develop a realistic list of measures to remedy the situation in those areas where there is a warning of scientists and experts on water quality" – the PM said.
However, he urged officials not to venture to abstract the problem of global scale.
"We will act gradually and will strengthen the weakest link in the system. And certainly we achieve the desired performance" – he stressed.
He added that the state and local budgets should concentrate on projects that solve the problems of water supply areas and are based on the use of new technologies.
"Water in Ukraine will meet European standards – the issue is not too distant in future" – the Prime Minister noted.
