PM of Ukraine Demands to Toughen Requirements for Carriers
OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov demands to toughen the requirements for carriers, especially who provide passenger services. The Head of Government said this during a session of the Cabinet of Ministers.
"The task of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of economic Development and Trade - we must look whether we too carried away with deregulation, especially where it comes to the safety of our people. This includes freight traffic and first of all passenger traffic, requirements to which should be stricter", - said Mykola Azarov noted that in Ukraine there was a paradoxical situation - year after year number of fines, administrative protocols for violations are increasing in passenger traffic. But it does not reduce the number of injuries and deaths on the roads.
" We need immediate and decisive action", - stressed the Head of Government.
According to him, several issues remain unresolved in the field of passenger transport: in particular, the absence of any requirements for registration of non-scheduled operations, weaknesses in the functioning of the network of bus stations, which create social tension among the carriers.
"All this reduces the quality and safety of transportation", - the Prime Minister said.
