The parties stressed the importance of building a gas pipeline Ungheni-Iasi, which will allow the interconnection of national gas transmission systems of Romania and Moldova to strengthen their energy security and diversifying sources and routes of natural gas supplies. Filat and Victor Ponta pointed out that, according to the agreements, the construction of high voltage power lines Felchiu-Gotesht 110 kV on the Romanian territory is scheduled for completion before the end of 2012, in the territory of Moldova transmission line section has already been built.

 In addition, the parties will continue the project of building another high-voltage power lines - Balti-Suceava 400 kV. Filat said that after interconnection of gas transmission systems of the two countries, Moldova will receive access to the gas market of Romania and other European countries and will be able to diversify its sources of gas supply.

He also did not exclude that this pipeline will enable Romania to receive gas from the East, noting that in addition to the possibility of Russian gas supplies there are Ukraine and other countries that produce their own gas. Recall that the cost of building a gas pipeline Ungheni-Iasi - 19 million euros, of which Romania will contribute 12 million euros, and Moldova - 7 million euros. Part of the funds will be provided from European funds. The pipeline in Moldova will be 10.4 km.
