Low on Employment Will Help to Eliminate Age Discrimination in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. July 19, 2012. Incentives provided by the Low on Employment will help to eliminate discrimination against the unemployed by age in employment. This was stated by vice Prime Minister - Minister of Social Policy Sergiy Tigipko.
"We know that there is restriction of the unemployed by age. In particular, this applies to young people without work experience and the people of mature age. We proposed in the law on employment the exemption from the unified social contribution for the year instead of creation of jobs for young people and people older than 50 years. Employer will be profitable to employ people. And this is the main argument" – Mr. Tigipko said.
The vice Premier said that the law provides the possibility to improve the professional skills of young people and older workers. In particular, young people will undergo training with the introduction of information about this in the workbook and people over 45 year will receive a voucher for learning a new profession.
"At one time I took on the work of many people, and I can say that young people interested in their enthusiasm and innovative thinking and the people of mature age are valuable because they have experience" - vice Prime Minister said.
Sergiy Tigipko reminded that under the new law on employment in job advertisements is prohibited to indicate the age of the applicant for the position.
Recall, according to experts, about one-third of the unemployed in Ukraine is people aged from 40 to 59 years. According to a study conducted by the Kharkov Institute for Social Research, age limits contained in 15% of newspaper ads and 58% of Internet ads.
