OREANDA-NEWS. July 19, 2012. In Prague the Certificate was signed about acceptance of the bidding documentation from the International Consortium of Skoda JS a.s. (Czechia), Joint-Stock Company "Atomstroyexport" and JSC "OKB Gidropress” (Russia) (hereinafter - the Consortium) for choice of reactor technology for construction of power units 3 and 4 of Temelin NPP in Czechia.

The tender for construction of these power units was invited on August, 3rd, 2009, and the Consortium was established on October, 14th.

Three participants: companies Westinghouse, AREVA and the Czechia-Russia Consortium have passed the qualification selection.

According to the bidding conditions, commissioning of power units 3 and 4 of Temelin NPP should take place by 2025. Besides, a successful Bidder can be awarded option contracts for construction of three more NPP power units on other sites in the countries of Europe.

The Czechia-Russia Consortium offers MIR.1200 design, developed by SPbAEP, i.e. the Modernized International Reactor of 1200 MW capacity. It is an evolutionary design of enhanced safety, which is based on the approved and proved technical solutions of VVER reactor technology. The design is focused on realization in Europe and, in particular, considers special requirements of the bid specification for completion of Temelin NPP. The design is unique by its combination of the up-to-date active and passive safety systems. It completely corresponds to EUR and IAEA recommendations regarding safety, and is one of the best representatives of NPPs  of generation III +.

The active preparation of the Bid was carried out by a team of developers and experts of the  Czechia¬Russia Consortium within almost three years. All participants of the Consortium did a huge spadework.

And here today the participants of the Consortium have submitted to the office of the bidding process organizer, company CEZ, their bidding documentation in full, placed in six containers of 770 kg gross weight.
