According to statistics of the assisting company "Garant-Assistance" and the internal data of Oranta’s department of claims settlement, the most frequently stolen car brands of the company's customers are VAZ and Chevrolet Aveo, as well as Japanese Honda ( the Civic and the HR-V).

"Oranta is people oriented company, so according to our statistics, the risk of car theft is higher among economy class car brands, as the insurers’ audience of Oranta is dominated by representatives of the Ukrainian middle class" - said the Director of the claims settlement and control of outsourcing of Oranta, Ms. Tatiana Kopaeva.

Regions which are notorious for high activity of car hijackers are traditionally Kiev and Kiev Oblast, as well as Lviv and Luhansk regions. "This is understandable, since in the Kiev region is the highest population density in country, and therefore proportionally the statistics is higher, and Lviv and Luhansk are located close to the border area of Ukraine, where it is easier and closer to transport hijacked cars abroad", - says Tatiana Kopaeva.

The only protection against the risk of car theft remains a hull insurance policy, but in recent years many Ukrainians prefer to save by buying only mandatory form of motor insurance. "Unfortunately, many car owners do not realize the importance of hull insurance, hoping that in case of an accident the risks will be covered by the compulsory motor insurance policy, but the limits may not be enough to repair the car, not to mention the risks such as damage to the car by the car owners by negligence, theft, illegal actions of third parties, or natural force-major. Only the hull can protect against these risks and offset the costs in case of attack,"- said director of Oranta’s Transport Insurance Sales, Mr. Igor Gruzkoy.
