OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2012. Stena Line, a Swedish marine operator and one of the world’s largest passenger and freight ferry companies, has acquired five short-sea routes in the Baltic Sea from Scandlines, based in Germany, and one of the Europe’s largest ferry companies, reported the press-centre of SORAINEN.

Stena Line acquired routes from Travemunde (Germany) to Ventspils and Liepaja (Latvia), from Nynashamn (Sweden) to Ventspils (Latvia), from Rostock (Germany) to Trelleborg (Sweden), and from Sassnitz (Germany) to Trelleborg (the latter two routes to Trelleborg were previously run jointly with Scandlines). In addition, Stena Line acquired Scandlines service centre in Lithuania which gives support to the acquired routes (including ticket sales). The deal is still subject to approval by the German antitrust authorities.

SORAINEN advised on the Lithuanian and Latvian parts of the transaction with a team including partner Eva Berlaus, senior associates Renate Purvinska and Mantas Petkevicius, and associate Gytis Malinauskas.
