SOCAR President Meets Germany's ThyssenKrupp Delegation
OREANDA-NEWS. July 17, 2012. SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev held a meeting with the German delegation led by Heinrich Hiesinger, Chairman of Executive Board, ThyssenKrupp.
Warmly welcoming the guests, SOCAR president focused on the socio-economic progress in Azerbaijan over the recent years and underlined the role of oil and gas industry and its flagman - SOCAR in this process. Talking about the regional and global energy projects planned by the company for the next few years, Rovnag Abdullayev specially emphasized the projects of Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline, which will be significant part of South Gas Corridor, construction of the new Oil and Gas Refining Complex and Sumgayit Chemical-Industrial Park. He said these magnificent projects should be approached with a great creativeness.
Expressing gratitude for a warm welcome, ThyssenKrupp's Chairman of Executive Board Heinrich Hiesinger said he hoped that his visit to Azerbaijan would play an important role in the development of economic relations between the two countries. Stressing their great impression of the visit to Baku, the guest said Azerbaijan was a rapidly developing country in the post-Soviet area and seen by the German people and government as a modern country. Dr. Hiesinger said ThyssenKrupp was one of the world's largest engineering companies with large opportunities and new technologies producing steel, providing components and systems for aircraft industry and shipbuilding, elevators and escalators, as well as different equipments for oil and chemical industry. ''We are positively looking forward to the development of relations with Azerbaijan and opportunities for cooperation with SOCAR. We are interested in the projects planned by your company for the near future'', Hiesinger said. SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev stressed the strong legal basis and rich experience in the protection of foreign investment in Azerbaijan and the country’s strong willingness based on the national interests and principle of economic efficiency to carry on cooperation with all serious companies. He said they would attentively consider proposals made by ThyssenKrupp.
The sides exchanged views on the other issues of interest.
