Baosteel's elaborated arches "the World's Tallest Door Model Architecture" is accuratedly lifted in 240 meters high above the predetermined location (circle in the figure.). Therefore, known as "Gate of the Orient" of the domestic building in history with the most complex combination, implanted with Baosteel's special steel structure "gene", the arch will become a new landmark in Suzhou, reported the press-centre of Baosteel. 

Located in the centre of Suzhou, the east of "Gate of the Orient" is Jinji Lake, South Dushu Lake. Looking north is Yangcheng Lake, west the ancient city of Suzhou. Including the ground of 88 floors, underground of 5 layers, the total height will reach 301.8 meters, with a total construction area of 463,000 square meters. Among them, the highest point of the door opening is 240 meters, a span of about 65 meters, and it is currently the world's largest portal construction, so it is called "the world's first portal".

The British RMJM architectural design group is responsible for the architectural design of "Gate of the Orient", Shanghai construction group undertaking engineering contracting, and Baosteel Engineering and Technology, Baosteel Steel Structure Building is mainly responsible for the steel structure of the production. Among them, located in the buildings 37 to 43 floor, the arch belongs to the most difficult section of the "Gate of the Orient" building projects. Due to the stands between two apart from 50 meters above the floor of super high tower, the arch steel structure production technical is especially difficult, which is also up to now, Baosteel encountered the most complex and highest technical difficulty of steel components. Among them, the key to determining the success of the arch is the control of super thick plate welding process of deformation, and the scientific control of the direction of the assembly space beam-column .

To overcome the difficulties of the arch steel structure fabrication and field connection, Baosteel not only sets up a special group, but also forms a strong technical support team. Firstly, in order to prevent 100 mm thick plate welding deformation, craftsmen implement a series of targeted and effective measures to ensure welding quality for oversized items reaching a specific process requirements. Secondly, according to the steel structure large multi angle bracket support science principle, the workers at the hanging small operation space, complete for each welding special process when the arch is assembled on-site. Thus, they successfully complete the arch production and installation, and step on engineering construction plan node of "Gate of the Orient".

Next, Baosteel will do their best to make all the steel structure, including building roof arch for the "Gate of the Orient" in order to achieve top target at the end of this year in sound operation.
