Scottish Hydro Awarded to Projects in Alyth and Mount Blair
OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2012. Scottish Hydro has awarded over 510,000 to local projects in Alyth and
Recent successful applications include 30,000 for Alyth Friends of Guiding for a new hall to be used by the Guides and other local groups, and a further 30,000 for upgrades to Blackwater Public Hall. ?8,500 was awarded to Alyth Golf Club for buggies to allow members with mobility issues to better enjoy a game of golf and ?1,175 was awarded for improvements to Ballintuim Village Hall.
Ciara Wilson, SSE’s Community Investment Advisor for Drumderg wind farm said: “It’s fantastic that over ?510,000 from the Scottish Hydro Drumderg wind farm has been spent on community projects. We are delighted at the quality of applications and are pleased to be helping key community projects move forward. There are two further funding rounds this year and we are keen to see the good work continue. The next deadline for applications is on 6 August and I’d like to encourage more community groups to apply – these funds can make a real difference where it’s needed the most.”
The Drumderg wind farm fund, which benefits the community council areas of Mount Blair and Alyth, has been active since 2007 with an annual fund value (index linked) of ?64,000. Over 120 community projects have now been funded with a total spend of ?511,586.
