OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2012. According to the Ministry of Finance, as compared with the same period of the last year, in January-April, 2012 receipts from excise grew 60,4 mln. leis, 9,3%.

The increase was determined by the raise in excise on oil products, cigarettes, strong beverages and cars. At the same time, adverse weather conditions caused a shortfall in the budget due to a decline in import of excisable goods.

Besides, the shortfall is explained by the change in the structure and an amount of the strong beverage excise. For example, starting from January,13 2012 a sum of the excises paid for 1 liter of strong beverage sold by a producer at an established minimum price declined as compared with 2011. In particular, a sum of the excise imposed on 1 liter of a 40% strong beverage sold by a producer at 75 leis per liter declined from 26,8 leis per liter in 2011 to 23,65 leis per liter this year. In a total sum of excises receipts from excises on domestic goods made up 129,9 mln. leis; receipts from excises on imported goods were 608,1 mln. leis.

The recovery of excise amounted to 27,9 mln. leis.
