OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2012. Italian businessmen interested in infrastructure projects being implemented in Ukraine. During a conference organized by the Italian side "Italy & Ukraine: Building together", which was held in Kyiv, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure - Chief of Staff Volodymyr Kornienko and heads of departments of the Ministry of Infrastructure presented to foreign experts priority projects of development of the transport sector in Ukraine, which in the case of passing all the necessary procedures (tenders) foreign companies may join.

According to Volodymyr Kornienko, a basic sector of the economy of Ukraine and, therefore, the most essential element of the transport system is railways.

82.1% of freights and 54.5% of passenger traffic within the country is created by railroads and for the volume of freight railways of Ukraine took 4th place on the Eurasian continent. Therefore, the primary projects include: the further electrification of the railways, the introduction of high-speed traffic, as well as building new roads, development of commercial sea ports - Odessa, and "South."

Currently under implementation is the construction of new double track tunnel - another link of introduction of high-speed railway of movement in Ukraine. The construction of the tunnel will eliminate a dangerous rescue "bottleneck" in the direction of the international transport corridor № 5, and then will be increased not only the safety of railway traffic, and increase capacity at the direction and reduced travel time of trains, etc.

Another project, which the Ministry is working on, is improvement of transport and operational condition of roads on the approaches to Kyiv. The project of building a highway Lviv-Krakovets implies the development of the site of the international transport corridor route number 3 in Berlin / Dresden - Wroclaw - Lviv - Kyiv on the territory of Lviv region. In addition, the new road will provide high-quality transport of Ukraine and Poland through the new crossing state borders, "Krakovets-Korcheva" with a capacity of 5000 vehicles per day.

All these projects will be implemented for the funds of the state and local budgets, enterprises' own funds, by loans from international and international financial institutions and private investors so the Ministry is opened to cooperation with all investors, including Italian.
 
Reference. The transport complex of Ukraine is:
- 169.5 thousand km of paved roads (in the automotive industry employed 123 thousand people, density of roads is 273 km per 1 thousand m2 area of the country);
- 21.7 thousand km of railway (employed 480 thousand people, density of railways in the country a thousand m2 is 36 km);
- 2.3 thousand km of river navigable ways, their density per 1 thousand m2 area of the country is 4 km;
- 18 marine and 10 river ports;
- 30 airports;

Every year, transport companies carried about 1.5 billion tons of cargo and 7 million passengers.
