Vice PM of Ukraine Met with British Pharmaceutical Company
OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2012. Raisa Bohatyryova, Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Health of Ukraine met with representatives of one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals.
During the meeting, which was attended by Andrey Stogniy, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ukraine General Manager, Marina Buchma, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ukraine Manager of External Relations, Martin Day, Deputy Head of UK Mission to Ukraine, as well as Roman Tolstanov, Oleksandr Bogachev Deputies Minister of Health of Ukraine was discussed issues related to the functioning of the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine and co-operation between the company and the Ministry of Health.
As vice Prime Minister noted, in terms of development of pharmaceutical industry and potential of domestic producers of medicines, Ukraine is not inferior to many of the European countries.
At the same time, Raisa Bohatyryova stressed that dominant in the development, research, production and use of drugs is a factor, aimed at protecting human health. However, Ukraine needs of those drugs that are manufactured by foreign companies, including GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals.
GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, according to Andrey Stogniy, is one of the few pharmaceutical companies conducting research to develop qualitative and medicines, and vaccines. "Our mission is to improve the quality of life, enabling them to do more, feel better and live longer", - he said.
One of the priorities of the Ministry of Health is an immunologic prophylaxis - was noted during the meeting. The importance of immunologic prophylaxis as a foundation for preserving the nation's health is the cornerstone of health care reforms initiated by President of Ukraine. GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals' representatives reported that their experts have developed materials aimed at developing a positive attitude towards people immunization and expressed readiness to convey them to the Ministry of Health.
In addition, the interlocutors have agreed on the provision by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals of information about the monitoring centers for the control of communicable and noncommunicable diseases. "We are ready to use your experts’ experience on the work of these centers, as well as interested in quality products and long-term partnership", - Raisa Bohatyryova said.
