OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2012. Baosteel Group has made promise to turn its subsidiaries in Baoshan district and the Luojing production base into a strategically emerging industrial cluster dealing with new materials and energy-saving appliances.

Former Shanghai No.1 and No.5 workshops in the Wusong Industry Zone and a COREX smelting plant in the Luojing region could be the first targets of the groupбпs migration program between 2012 and 2017.

As a result, steel operations would be slashed by 5.80 million tons for pig iron and by 6.60 million tons for steel in the Shanghai region after 2017, thus reducing the consumption of standard coal by three million tons per year.
