OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2012. Pulkovo International Airport is honored with the title of 'Best CIS Airport' in the sphere of aviation marketing (Routes CIS Airport Marketing Awards). Awarding ceremony took place during the Routes CIS Forum held in Yekaterinburg on June 24-26, 2012.

Eugeniy Ilyin Chief Commercial Officer, Northern Capital Gateway LLC and Olga Vlasova Head of Aviation Marketing Department, Northern Capital Gateway LLC were awarded at the solemn gala dinner where more than 200 representatives of airlines and airports took part. The winner was selected by airlines and aviation industry experts' voting.

Pulkovo Airport has demonstrated the marketing events efficiency in the sphere of carriage development, including market research and identifying of perspective directions for development of air carriage as well as marketing communications aimed at the Airport services promotion among airlines. In May 2011 Northern Capital Gateway LLC put into effect the Procedure for Airlines Route Network Development at Pulkovo Airport. This procedure provides the incentive program for airlines which increase the flight frequency, open new routes and develop transfer carriage through Pulkovo Airport. According to the program terms, airlines which start to perform flights or resume flights from Pulkovo Airport get special bonus.

"Routes CIS Marketing Awards is acknowledgement and incentive of effective and innovative marketing events held by CIS airports. The received award automatically enters Pulkovo Airport in the list of World Routes Awards nominees. The Awards will be held in Abu Dhabi this year.

St. Petersburg Airport has shown excellent results: the passenger flow rate represented 13,8 % increase in 2011 and seven new airlines including Emirates started operating flights there. Pulkovo Airport actively identifies in-demand routes as well as attracts airlines. Last year the incentive program for airlines was implemented" - said Nigel Mayes Vice President Commercial, UBM Aviation Routes at the awards ceremony.

The award and confidence of airlines as well as aviation industry experts prove that we are on the right track. Currently, the main terminal is under the construction which will be completed at the end of 2013. It will significantly increase the passenger flow at the Airport.
