OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2012. More than 7 million tons of grain was harvested. It also continues the production of winter rape and fodder for livestock breeding. This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

"The early grain and leguminous crops were threshed on the area of 3.6 million hectares. Agrarians have threshed 7 million tons of grain, including 4.8 million tons of wheat, 2 million tons of barley, 16 tons of rye and 234 tons of peas. It also the collection of oats has been started, which is already harvested 11 tons" - the Minister said.

In addition, the collection of winter rape and fodder for the livestock industry needs is being continued.

"As of today, winter rape threshed on the area of 200 thousand hectares. It has already been harvested 391 tons of this crop with yields 19.6 centner/ha. In addition, laying-in of fodder for the needs of the animal industry is being continued. Now 4.6 million tons of hay has been made, which is 90% of the forecast" - Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.

According to the operative data of the regions, the production of grain and leguminous crops in the current year is expected in the amount of 45.3 million tons.
