OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2012. Cigarette output in Belarus increased 13% on the year in January-May 2012 to 13.2 billion units, according to the National Statistics Committee.

In May alone Belarusian tobacco mills produced 2.7 billion cigarettes, up 60% on the year and up 10.7% on the month.

Sales of cigarettes amounted to 9.9 billion units, up 2.1% on the year, including 6.7 billion units sold by retail companies, down 0.1%.

Belarusian-made cigarettes accounted for 95.9% of all sales, up 0.9 percentage points on the year. The share of imported cigarettes in the total sales amounted to 4.1%, down 0.9 percentage points.
