PETRONAS Appointment Director of its Board
OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2012. PETRONAS is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of the Company had approved the appointment of Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan as a Director of the PETRONAS Board and noted his appointment as Chairman of the Board, reported the press-centre of PETRONAS.
Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, who recently retired from the Malaysian Civil Service as the Twelfth Chief Secretary to the Government, will head, guide and provide stewardship to the PETRONAS Board. Given his vast experience and expertise, the Board believes that PETRONAS will be extremely well served by having as its Chairman a person of Tan Sri Mohd Sidek’s capacity and standing.
Tan Sri Mohd Sidek’s appointment will restore clear demarcation of roles between Chairman and President & CEO and as such is a further reflection of PETRONAS’ commitment to upholding global standards of good governance, a key pillar of its Corporate Enhancement Programme (CEP).
The Board, at the same sitting, also approved the appointment of Puan Juniwati Rahmat Hussin as Vice President & Venture Director of the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) to lead all proposed PETRONAS developments in Pengerang, Johor.
A chemist by qualification, Puan Juniwati, a former PETRONAS scholar, has had a 30-year career with PETRONAS, during which time she held various responsibilities in refinery operations, project management, corporate planning, marketing and trading, as well as in education.
She will be succeeded in her current position as Vice-President of the Human Resource Management (HRM) Division by Puan Raiha Azni Abd Rahman, Senior General Manager of HRM Division, Exploration & Production Business. Over her 28-year career with PETRONAS, Puan Raiha Azni, a former PETRONAS scholar, served in numerous positions across a range of HRM functions within the Group.
Both appointments take effect from 1 July 2012. The Board looks forward the continued contributions of both Puan Juniwati and Puan Raiha Azni.
