Workers’ Training Center Wil Be Set up at Baltic NPP
OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2012. Shortly, an open house will be held on the construction site of Baltic NPP and a training center in workers’ skills will be established. This had been an agenda item of a routine meeting of the construction control panel of Units 1 and 2, the Public Information Center of the Directorate of Baltic NPP under Construction said.
“The task of fulfillment of the 2012 plan is a serious and uneasy task, with everyone will have to labor on. To this end the principal contractor will have to mobilize contractors, the designers will have to supply builders with the lacking working documentation, and advance construction management systems have to be actively deployed,” Valery Limarenko, Director of NIAEP noted.
To remind, at Unit 1 construction site the concreting and reinforcing the reactors building foundation plate, as well as excavating the foundation pit for critical buildings of Unit 2, are in progress.
The ground breaking for Baltic nuclear power plant took place on February 25, 2010 in Neman District of Kaliningrad Region. It is built to AES-2006 design and will include two power units of a total capacity of 2300 MW. The plant is intended to supply electricity to Kaliningrad Region and for export. For the first time in history of the national nuclear power such project is open for private investors, including foreign ones.
