Pertamina M&T Region 1 Sumbagut Utilizes Solar-Powered
OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2012. PT Pertamina (Persero) inaugurated the use of solar-powered lights in Pertamina's Office of Marketing & Trading Region I Medan, North Sumatera, as part of the Company's commitment to energy saving and to utilizing environmental-friendly renewable energy, reported the press-centre of Pertamina.
The inauguration was conducted by Pertamina's Marketing & Trading Director Hanung Budya and Fuel Retail Marketing Region I General Manager Gandhi Sriwidodo on Wednesday (27/6) in Medan.
According to Hanung, for the first phase Pertamina M&T Region I has installed 11 solar-powered lights in office area and Medan Group Fuel Terminal. He hoped that all Pertamina's assets, particularly in M&T area, to adopt efficent, environmental-friendly and renewable energy technology, which is the sun.
"If such innitiative continues to grow within Pertamina's office area, it is very possible that Pertamina's office will become green office. The innitiative is in like with energy saving movement promoted by the government," Hanung Budya said.
Gandhi Sriwidodo said that Pertamina M&T Region 1 is thankful to be the pioneer in using solar-powered lights. He said that Region 1 is also putting effort to change all the lights to energy-saving light-emitting diode (LED) technology.
"The use of solar cell is the proof of the company's mission as an energy company that put in effort to utilize new energy and renewable energy in its business activities," he said.
Pertamina has established its vision as the World Class National Energy Company with one of the main agenda of optimalizing the utilization of new energy and renewable energy, such as solar cell, biofuel, and geothermal. With such role, Pertamina expects to achieve government target to improve the contribution of new energy and renewable energy to the energy mix - reaching 17% by 2025.
