OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2012. Transaero Airlines, Russia’s second-largest carrier, after being named under the process of liberalization of air transportation between Russia and Italy a designated carrier on certain routes operated its first-ever scheduled flight to Malpensa airport in Milan from St. Petersburg Pulkovo airport on June 28, 2012. Scheduled service from Moscow Vnukovo airport is due to start on June 30, 2012.
Transaero was pleased with the number of passengers on the first flight from St. Petersburg to Milan demonstrating the demand for the service. The company is also satisfied with the bookings for flights from Moscow to Milan showing the need for additional capacity on the route.
Transaero’s flights UN497/498 between St. Petersburg and Milan are operated twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. From September 28, 2012, service on Fridays will be added.
On Thursdays departure from St. Petersburg at 6:00 pm, arrival in Milan at 7:30 pm. Departure from Milan at 8:10 pm, arrival in St. Petersburg at 1:20 am the following day. All times local.
On Sundays (later on Fridays as well) departure from St. Petersburg at 10:30 am, arrival in Milan at 12:00. Departure from Milan at 12:40 pm, arrival in St. Petersburg at 18:05 pm.
The carrier’s flights UN397/398 between Moscow and Milan will be operated twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays according to the following schedule. Departure from Moscow at 5:50 pm, arrival in Milan at 7:20 pm. Departure from Milan at 8:10 pm, arrival in Moscow at 1:20 am the following day. All times local.
Flights from St. Petersburg and Moscow to Milan are performed with Boeing 737 aircraft in two-class configuration including Business and Economy classes of services.
The launch of the service marks another step in increasing Transaero Airlines presence in the Italian airline market. Thus the company has recently launched scheduled flights from Moscow to Rome and Venice. Within next several days Transaero starts operations on the St. Petersburg – Rome route.
