OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2012. DTEK, the leading energy company in Ukraine, and Lviv Polytechnic National University, the oldest technical institution of higher education in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, signed an agreement for long-term cooperation.

The joint project of DTEK and Lviv Polytechnic will cover several areas. The university will adapt its training programs so they will meet up-to-date requirements of energy and coal industries. It will be able to upgrade its training facilities and provide its best graduates with jobs.

DTEK, in its turn, will be able to train its future employees under tailor-made programs based on the modern requirements of the energy sector and specific needs of DTEK’s enterprises. “Business should not stand aside of problems in the education sector. Thus, DTEK started to assist educational establishments with procurement. The agreement on scientific and technical cooperation that we have signed today will be not just a declaration but will provide practical assistance. We have created a dedicated group of DTEK’s specialists in different areas who will jointly with the university representatives assess the knowledge of students and organize various research and development projects, research papers and graduation thesis that meet the actual production requirements of the Company,” said Aleksandr Kucherenko, the HR Director of DTEK.

“Our future cooperation will involve not only financing of the long-term program on training of power engineers for DTEK’s companies, but also further investment in the scientific developments of Lviv Polytechnic. This joint project is in line with DTEK’s values, as the company undertakes responsibility for its activities to the society and the country and intends to pursue leadership in European power markets. DTEK’s success is based on our highly qualified specialists, advanced technologies and efficient operations. I believe that this promising alliance between the education and research community and the business - between the oldest technical university in Eastern Europe representing Western Ukraine and rapidly developing DTEK Company - will help strengthen the national unity and political and economic sovereignty of our country,” said Volodymyr Pavlysh, first pro-rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

DTEK has already entered into similar agreements with Donetsk National Technical University, National Mining University (Dnipropetrovsk) and National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI” (Kyiv). These educational establishments have already been implementing the educational programs for the professions the Company requires. Fifty-seven students have already graduated from these universities and received job offers from DTEK, some others are doing their Master’s course.
