OREANDA-NEWS. July 02, 2012. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company has always endeavoured to improve the quality of life of its communities. Continuing with these efforts, the Haldia team of Tata Power organized a special initiative to support the underprivileged children around its plant. This unique initiative involved spouses of Haldia employees who came forward and rendered their services towards this noble cause.

‘Baivabi’ is a special ladies club formed by the spouses of the employees and organizes various developmental programs. Under this initiative, members of ‘Baivabi’ collected various materials which were in good condition and unused at their houses. Along with ‘Baivabi’, many employees from the Haldia team also donated various materials ranging from clothes, books, educational materials to toys. These were then donated to the underprivileged children.

Speaking about this initiative, Mr. Vijayant Ranjan, Station Head, Haldia Power Plant, said, “We are committed to improving the quality of life of our communities. We are thankful to Baibhavi and the Tata Power Haldia ladies club members, for coming forward and taking lead in this noble cause.”

The members from Baivabi and employees of the Haldia team personally handed over the materials to the children and also interacted with them. The programme was held in collaboration with the Gandhi Ashram, a NGO which provides short stay homes/destitute homes for boys, girls and children with special needs at Haldia and also runs a vocational training programme for women. It was a great experience for all the volunteers who put a smile on the faces of all these children.
