OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2012. Tata Power India’s largest integrated power company’s Jojobera Thermal Power Station at Jamshedpur has bagged the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award for the year 2012.

The award will be presented at a specially organized “Awards Gala Nite” on Saturday, 7th July 2012 at New Delhi in the presence of distinguished gathering of business leaders, jurists, academics, environmentalists, economists, legislators and policy makers during the 14th World Congress on Environment Management, being held on 7 - 8 July 2012 at the same venue. Hon’ble P. Chidambaram, Union Home Minister has been invited to be the Chief Guest atthe Gala Awards Nite and present the Golden Peacock Awards along with Hon’ble Ambika Soni, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India. The decision to award Jojobera plantwas taken by a jury  under theChairmanship of Justice P. N. Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India and Member, UN Human Rights Commission.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power said “It is a matter of pride for us that our Jojobera thermal plant has won laurels for its efforts towards environment conservation. Tata Power has always set standards in adopting sustainable practices in its business and we will continue to lead the path for responsible growth”.

In a separate session on “Stories of Success”, Jojobera plant will be sharing its initiatives and achievements in the field of Environment Management.
