OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2012. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 1.6% in May 2012 to compare with 1.7% in April, 1.5% in March, 1.5% in February and 1.9% in January 2012, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

In January-May 2012 Belarus’ consumer prices grew 8.5%.

In May, staple food prices went up 2.6% (up 9.7% since early January 2012); non-food prices increased 0.7% (6%), and service prices went up 0.4% (10.3%).

Belarus’ inflation grew 108.7% in 2011, while the original forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. The government expects inflation to stay under 19-22% in 2012.
