Oracle Day for Qatar Petroleum Held
OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2012. More than 70 staff representing the various directorates and departments of Qatar Petroleum (QP) recently attended the “Oracle Day for QP” seminar, which featured the latest product innovations with engineered hardware and software and how these can be used in the oil and gas industry, reported the press-centre of Qatar Petroleum.
The seminar, which was hosted by Oracle Corporation at the Doha Marriott Hotel, had a total of six sessions focusing on Oil and Gas, Engineering and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Enterprise Performance Management, Next-Generation Oracle Technology and Engineered Systems, Shutdown Planning and Financial Planning, and Advantages to SAP Using Next Gen Oracle Solutions.
Specifically, among the topics discussed during the seminar were the case studies, architecture and solutions for intelligent oilfields, enterprise performance management using Oracle solutions and analytics, as well as engineering and operations project management including planning and scheduling. The speakers, who were made up of senior Oracle officials, also presented the business processes related to shutdown planning, the case studies for improvements in SAP and GIS, and the latest technology developments in hardware, disaster recovery and cloud-based solutions.
“The ‘Oracle Day for QP’ was an opportunity for us to keep up to date with the newest technologies and systems from Oracle, in addition to other major technology market players. These would undoubtedly play a major role in meeting our ever-growing ICT requirements and in further increasing the efficiency of QP’s operations,” said Mr. Fayez M. Al-Boainin, Acting Manager for Information and Communication Technology and Manager for ICT Infrastructure at QP.
The event started with a welcome speech and introduction by Mr. Fadi Abdulkhalek, Vice-President for Technology of Oracle Corporation. Mr. Ghassan Mayassi, Oracle’s Oil and Gas Industry Leader and Process Director, then delivered a keynote address prior to the sessions.
The “Oracle Day for QP” seminar was attended by staff from various QP directorates and departments, including Oil & Gas Ventures, Operations, Refining, Technical, Strategic Planning & Policy, Corporate HSE, Administration, Ras Laffan and Mesaieed Industrial Cities, and ICT.
