OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2012. The contractors have completed one third of the planed scope of works for the heating main supply branch.

Sibirenergoengineering specialists began the works immediately upon completion of the trunk heating network testing that was completed in Abakan on May 18. Due to low temperatures having set in, the trunk pipeline testing terms were cut. Nevertheless, the power industry specialists completed the testing in full: apart from the regular pipes tests for strength and tightness, testing for hydraulic losses was undertaken.

Hydraulic loss testing aim is evaluation of the network pipelines conditions in terms of capability to withstand the preset pressure along the route of heat-transfer medium delivery from the heat source to the consumer. Such tests are carried out every five years. Data obtained in the course of testing will be used during elaboration of prospective plans of heating mains repair and reconstruction.

The strength and tightness tests revealed no significant damages, the defects detected to be eliminated in the course of current repairs. In the third decade of July, after completion of works on the supply branch, the contractors will commence the return pipeline repair. As a whole, the heating main repair is to be completed by September 25 (the heating season beginning).

Apart from current repairs, the power industry specialists plan to undertake reconstruction of the trunk pipeline sections in Chertygashev Street and Torgovaya Street involving replacement of pipes previously laid with pipes of a larger diameter. The section extension in Chertygashev Street is 262 m. The pipes diameter will be increased to be 500 mm with account for pending commissioning of sports complex facilities in the Abakan recreation zone. The scope of works to be undertaken in Torgovaya Street is much less: there pipes are to be re-laid within a section but 49 m long.
