OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2012. Tata Elxsi, India’s leading design company and part of the USD 83.3-billion Tata group, announced the renaming of its Trivandrum Research Centre (TRC) at the Travancore Hall - Park Centre, Technopark, Thriruvananthapuram. The centre has been renamed Ramanathan Natarajan Development Centre (RNDC), in memory of its visionary mentor Ramanathan Natarajan.

Tata Elxsi’s RNDC focuses on supporting transportation, broadcast and semicon customers for embedded software, hardware and systems, helping them reduce time to market and cost of product development. This includes development of software and systems for high reliability and mission critical applications such as automotive and aerospace.

Mr Natarajan, popularly known as RN amongst his colleagues, joined Tata Elxsi in April 2001 from Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC). He was instrumental in the growth of the centre as a centre of excellence, which has more than 1,000 engineers today. Mr Natarajan’s contributions to Tata Elxsi in a span of nine years were many and varied, and his leadership qualities and spirit of winning set him apart. Mr Natarajan had more than 30 years of experience in embedded technology in providing mission critical solutions for different business verticals like avionics, automotive and industrial automation. He was regarded as a visionary leader and highly respected by everyone who worked with him.

As a mark of respect and to honour this visionary technocrat, RNDS plans to conduct a technical event annually. The first of this series is a technical session by India’s senior space scientist Parivakkam Subramaniam Veeraraghavan, presently the director of VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Mr Veeraraghavan would be speaking on the topic Autonomous Access to Space – Opportunities and Challenges.
