Chesapeake Energy Corporation Won Best Places to Work in IT
OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2012. International Data Group’s (IDG) Computerworld magazine today announced Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) as one of its 2012 Best Places to Work in IT. Chesapeake ranked #9 out of 100 companies and was both the highest-ranking energy corporation and Oklahoma-based company. Chesapeake’s innovative work environment, commitment to providing employees with top technology resources and competitive employee benefits secured the company’s placement on the list for the third consecutive year, reported the press-centre of Chesapeake Energy Corporation.
“To be recognized as a top IT employer is an honor in itself, but to be recognized for three years in a row is a testament to Chesapeake’s commitment to providing the industry’s best IT work experience,” said Cathy Tompkins, Chesapeake Senior Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. “We celebrate this award with the more than 550 members of our IT team who truly help make Chesapeake a great place to work. Thanks to Chesapeake’s opportunities for career growth and project variety, and its fast-paced team environment, we are able to recruit and retain IT professionals at the top of their field.”
Each year since 1994, Computerworld has assembled the Best Places to Work in IT list based on a comprehensive questionnaire focused on company commitments to benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. Rankings are also determined by survey responses from each company’s IT staff.
“Knowing that employee feedback contributed significantly to our ranking makes this honor that much more noteworthy,” said Tompkins. “We work hard to create a culture where our IT professionals work closely with their Chesapeake colleagues to solve real business challenges that make a difference in the success of the company. Our department is always working on something new, allowing our employees to continue to develop their skills and maintain our team’s leadership in the industry.”
Scot Finnie, Editor-in-Chief of Computerworld, added, “The organizations on this year’s Best Places to Work in IT list consistently seek out and hire the most talented IT people, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits. Many of these organizations have spent years building top-notch IT workplaces, and we applaud the amazing work they’ve done to sustain dynamic environments where IT professionals can work with the latest technologies and play a key role in business-critical projects.”
