Although unexpected drizzle fell on the day, smile could be seen on the face of everyone at the ceremony. Wang Pengfei, Deputy General Manager of the 3rd Complete Plants Division, delivered a speech on behalf of CMEC. First of all, he expressed his gratitude to President Obiang and his wife for attending the ceremony and extended his welcome to the government officials and other guests from Equatorial Guinea and China present at the ceremony. Then, he briefed the guests on the projects and indicated that all the projects had been completed and put into operation on schedule all because of the great efforts made by those engaged as well as the full support of the government and people of Equatorial Guinea. The completion of power projects has laid a sound foundation for the new projects to be launched in the country. Lastly, he wished Equatorial Guinea and China and people of the two countries lasting friendship and President Obiang happy birthday and good health.

President Obiang said in his address, “First of all, I would like to thank CMEC for helping Equatorial Guinea build the power facilities and introducing advanced technologies to improve power supply in this country. I would like to call on all the people watching the ceremony on TV right now to work together to maintain these new facilities and support the power sector with actions such as paying electricity bills. Today’s ceremony is the best response to the long-standing questioning and negative comments of a few people in Equatorial Guinea and the international community about the government’s failure to use its wealth for the people. The completed large-scale power facilities you see today in Malabo and Bata are what my government and I have been striving to deliver.”

Gabriel Obiang Lima, Minerals and Energy Minister of Equatorial Guinea, introduced the projects and expressed his thanks to CMEC for supporting the development of the power sector of Equatorial Guinea over the years and indicated that CMEC had helped to provide the people of the country with stable, safe and reliable access to electricity and improve their living environment. CMEC will work harder to present quality projects for the benefit of people in Equatorial Guinea.
